WiP Update

I haven't been doing a great job with my daily word count, but I have been making progress on the weekends. I got in about 4000 words this past weekend, including Monday/Tuesday.

You know that point you get to when writing a book where it starts to consume you? You know how you just live and breathe it, and it's all you think about?

That's the point I'm at right now. I go to bed thinking about the story, and wake up with it still on my mind. I'm writing scenes in my head while brushing my teeth. (Yeah, is this only me?)

But despite the fact that it's monopolizing my brain, the words are just flying onto the page, and I really hope things stay that way. The story is pretty much developing as I write.

I want to set another goal for when I hope to finish and start querying, but I'm not too sure as yet--hopefully I'll have a better idea within the next couple of weeks.

How about you? How are you all doing with your WiP's?

It's not just you who thinks asbout the wip while brushing your teeth. lol.
I think 70% of my day is taken up thinking about my wip, and scenes. Still, it managed to suprise me last night by taking me in a new area. Love it when that happens :)
Good luck with the writing. 4K is fantastic progress.

Haven't hit the all consuming part, but I think I'm about to.

I really struggled with my last WIP, if I wasn't blogging about it I think I would have quit it. Normally I'm good for the first 30 pages then when I hot page 150 I lose interest because the end seems SOOO far away.

Haha...no, it's not onl you. ;-)

I just finished my third MS, so I don't have anything new started yet (I don't count the MG books I'm writing for my daughter). I need to start something new before my brain turns to mush. LoL

I'm at the all consuming stage as well. Congrats on 4K, that's mighty fine. I'm trying to finish by Labor Day. 30K more. I've already written the query and lined up my beta readers so I'm trying to stay confident. If I can only get off the blog.

Well, right now my novel is at a complete halt. I'm finishing up my anthology. I'm putting all my creative juices into it. I think I'm closer to getting this published therefore, the novel can wait. ;)
I really admire you and other fellow writers that are at least half-way done or almost done. I hope to get there soon. In the meantime, kudos to you! Keep writing! You're one day closer to your goal.

Hehe It’s not only you- I’m familiar with that ‘consuming’ feeling where the story starts to breath and I feel like I’m writing all the time! :)
My revision is not going so well, I need a little kick I guess…

Right now, I'm not working on a novel. Just short stories. Since I'm past my due date and baby could come at any moment (ya hear that, baby???), I think that's for the best. That way, I can still write but not be too involved should I have to suddenly stop.

I'm just starting a new wip. I've now started it 5 times. :)

I do most of the first draft straight through, but I fuss with the beginning until I think I've got a decent starting place. It might change, but I need to get the voice down before I get too far into it. :)

That's wonderful, good for you. I love those heady days of the first draft, that all consuming stuff, it's brilliant, letting the imagination flow is totally liberating. Karen.

I think every writer has written a scene while brushing their teeth so don't worry about being too different. You're one of us!

I'm glad to hear that the WiP is going so well. My is pretty much stagnant at the moment. I groan every time I think about it.

Congratulations on your progress :-) I'm thinking a lot about my next WIP but not much down on paper yet. I'm looking forward to the day when I can start celebrating word counts, too!

I'm doing terrible. But after next week, I plan to get back on track. The first two weeks of August are booked solid for me.

WIP is in edit mode right now. Line editing is rediculous! I've also started WIP #2 in the meantime and lets hope it goes as smooth, if not smoother as the first one!

I'm at about 7000 and it is consuming me like you--trying to be sure I get into a deeper POV and voice!

4,000 over the weekend is awesome!

You are not alone. I'm the same way right now, at 20k into it. I'm writing it as I go also, but I have a pretty good idea of where I'm going. I'm constantly working out plot problems, jotting down more characters stuff. I haven't even looked back, so I have no idea how good it is. That's what revision is for!

Good luck on your wip this week!

Congratulations on getting to that all-consuming part of writing! I love it when I hit that stage. Wish it felt like that way all the time!

Ah, I envy you. I love it when I get to that stage when the words seem to flow out like a waterfall and it's as if they all fit into place. But I haven't felt like that in a while, so I've been really struggling with my writing lately. :(

Congrats on being so successful with your WIP lately! :D
